3-day mela on farm tech at Kateel in Dakshina Kannada dist

MANGALORE: Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) will conduct a three-day `Krishi Mela' at Kateel in Dakshina Kannada district from January 6.

The Executive Director of SKDRDP, Dr L.H. Manjunath, told presspersons here on Tuesday that the Union Minister for Rural Development, Mr Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, will inaugurate the mela at Keteel on January 6. Mr Abhayachandra Jain, Chief Whip of Karnataka State Legislative Assembly, will inaugurate the exhibition of farm machineries on the occasion. The Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, Dr D. Veerendra Heggade, will preside over the function.

The Karnataka Agriculture Minister, Mr K. Srinivasa Gowda, will deliver the valedictory address on January 8.

There will be panel discussions on `water conservation, `mixed farming', `dairy farming', `fund management in self-help groups', `dry farming', `women empowerment' and `women self employment' during the three days.

Nearly one-lakh farmers are expected to attend the `mela', Dr Manjunath added.
