Hyderabad , Dec. 23

CASHING in on the temporary open sky policy, Lufthansa plans to start a non-stop flight to Frankfurt from Hyderabad beginning February 16. The German carrier would operate three flights a week from Hyderabad.

The flights would run on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The connectivity to Frankfurt would help passengers proceed on to their destinations in the European Union and the US.

The international carrier has announced inaugural fares to mark the launch of the new service.

Meanwhile, the German carrier also planned an additional flight between Delhi-Munich and two more flights between Bangalore-Frankfurt.

"This will help in increase in providing extra capacity to meet the increasing demand during peak season," Mr Werner Heesen, General Manager Passenger Sales India and Director South Asia, said here in a press release.

On the Bangalore-Frankfurt route, the sixth flight commenced operations from December 8 and the seventh would fly from January 7.

With the addition of these extra flights till March 2005, Lufthansa would have 35 flights a week between India and Germany up from its current 29.
