`15-30 pc energy savings possible in compressors'

THE energy savings potential in compressors used in a variety of industries in the country has been pegged at Rs 2,500 crore.
Mr H.N. Daruwalla, Vice-President (Electrical and Electronic Services) of Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company Ltd, said compressors were among the high power consuming utility segment that absorbed 5,000 MW.
Delivering the theme address at the national seminar on `EnCon (energy conservation) in Compressed Air System' here on Friday, he said savings in the range of 15-30 per cent were possible in this segment.
Mr Daruwalla was the Chairman of the two-day seminar being held at the CII-Sohrabji Green Business Centre (CII-GBC).
Mr Achal Raghavan, Executive Vice-President (Air Solutions) of Ingersoll-Rand (India) Ltd, proposed a new business model of `Customer intimacy' that focussed on partnering with the customer, a CII-GBC press release said.
