THE US President, Mr George W. Bush's return to the White House for a second term will auger well for the Indian IT industry, for the incumbent US President was not against outsourcing of jobs to India, according to Mr Vinod Gupta, Founder and President of InfoUSA and a Life Fellow of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT-KGP). He had initiated the establishment of the Vinod Gupta School of Management at IIT-KGP.
Mr Gupta said this at an interaction with the faculty, students and representatives of the media during his annual visit to his alma mater in Kharagpur on Friday.
He provided $2 million from his endowment funds and charitable foundation to facilitate expansion of the management school.
According to sources, the number of students at the school had tripled from 30 in 2002 to 90 in 2004. It is expected to go up to 120 from 2005.
In addition, two new programmes are underway. The first is a five-year dual degree B. Tech (Hons) in a branch of engineering and a Master of Business Management programme.
The second is a sponsored two-year full-time residential Master of Business Administration programme exclusively for defence services officers.
