Events `Good reputation valuable asset to any company' Our Bureau
Mangalore , Nov. 24 REPUTATION building is the long-term asset of any company, according to the President of the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI), Mr Srinivasan K. Swamy. Dip in the reputation of the company will lead to depreciation of the value of the company. Market capitalisation of the company increases with its reputation, he said. Mr Swamy was speaking after presenting "PR Person of the Year" award to Ms Sandhya S. Pai of Manipal Media Network Ltd in Mangalore on Tuesday. The Mangalore-Manipal chapter of Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) instituted the award. To build a good reputation, the company should provide quality products to its customers and show a strong financial performance. It should develop integrity in financial, statutory and shareholders related matters. He also stressed the need for a cordial relationship between employer and employees. The company should be committed to the community it is working in, he said. Stating that it takes long time to build reputation, he said, "One wrong serious act can affect the reputation." Speaking on the topic "Public relations," he said that honesty in the work works in PR. Public relation professionals should have an ear to listen to the public. However, PR should not be used as an alternative to the good work done by the organisation. It is better not to venture into PR activities if the mood of the situation is against the organisation, he added. Ms Pai, who received the award, said that circumstances build a person. "Today we are paying more attention to other's opinions. We can't do anything if we start prioritising the opinions," she said. Mr B.R. Bhat, President of the PRSI Mangalore-Manipal chapter and Deputy General Manager of Corporation Bank, presided over the function.
