Hyderabad , Nov. 22

THE fourth edition of GITEX Hyderabad, to be held at the HITEX International Exhibition Centre here from January 12, is expected to bring together leading Indian and global information technology players on a single platform, according to the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

To ensure larger participation in the event, the Chief Minister said the State Government had extended the sales tax exemption and reduced the floor space rentals from Rs 6,000 to Rs 5,000 per square metre.

"GITEX Hyderabad has evolved into a premier exhibition for IT and communications industry as we have been receiving inquiries from both Indian and international IT major to participate in the event," Dr Reddy told newspersons here on Monday.

The three-day GITEX Hyderabad Computer Shopper is being organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) in association with the State Information Technology and Communications Department.

The Director General of DWTC, Mr Helal Saeed Khalfan Al Marri, said the 2005 show had received added impetus due to the sales tax exemption extended by the State Government.

The Computer Shopper will offer computer hardware, software, peripherals, multi-media and wide range of computer products and services.

Mr Marri expected a two-digit growth in the number of visitors as well as participants this year over the 2004 edition. GITEX Hyderabad 2004 had attracted 70 exhibitors and around 6,300 visitors.
