Social Welfare AP to launch insurance scheme for girl child soon Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Nov. 22 THE State Government will soon introduce an insurance scheme for households having only one girl child. Announcing this here on Monday, the Chief Minister, Dr Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, said the Government would deposit premium in the name of the girl child. After 20 years, the child would get a sum of Rs 1 lakh. The Government is working on the details of the scheme. Dr Reddy was addressing a gathering after launching the Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (COWE) here. Asking the women entrepreneurs to be regular in paying back their dues to banks, he appealed to them to set up industries in rural areas. Mr B. Ramalinga Raju, Chairman of Satyam Computer Services, said that women being potential human resources is an indisputable fact. But their contribution is always underestimated. Supported by some women entrepreneurs, COWE aims at forging tie-ups with financial and health institutions. "We have entered into a pact with State Bank of Hyderabad to provide micro-credit to a few beneficiaries," a COWE representative said. Similarly, it joined hands with Apollo Hospitals to offer telemedicine services. It also proposed to sign a memorandum of understanding with Confederation of Indian Industry to work in the areas of technology and market linkages.
