Chennai to host Indiasoft2005 in March

CHENNAI will host the Indiasoft2005, an information technology global networking event in India, on March 21 and 22 next year.

To be organised by the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), the event is likely to attract over 60 exhibitors from India.

The companies will showcase their strength in various segments of software and services sector, Mr Nalin Kohli, Chairman, ESC, said.

The ESC is an autonomous organisation under the Department of Information Technology. It has around 22,000 members (55 per cent of them are from southern India), including software and hardware firms, he said.

Around 50,000 business visitors, including 200 from abroad, are expected to participate in the exhibition and the international conferences, he told newspersons. Indiasoft2005, which is an annual event, will have hosted buyers programme targeted at countries from Africa and South America, he said.

The event will provide an opportunity for small and medium size IT hardware and software firms tap emerging markets such as like Africa and South America, he said. Business transactions worth over Rs 250 crore are likely to be generated at Indiasoft2005, he said.
