`Reopen PCB site office'

Our Bureau

KOCHI: The Local Area Environment Committee (LAEC) has asked the Pollution Control Board (PCB) to immediately reopen its site office in the Eloor-Edayar region.

LAEC, which was constituted by the board on October 15, had found that PCB office at Eloor shut down and non-functional for a long time. According to the LAEC, the office did not have necessary infrastructural facilities such as labs and technicians and personnel required for conducting inspections of industrial units at regular intervals.

It also found that the office did not have even the basic facilities to attend to emerging situations.
