Kerala Govt nod for pesticide use

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government has given the go-ahead for a comprehensive programme envisaging spraying of coconut trees with organic pesticides against mite infestation as also the use of fertilisers.

An official said here that around 30 lakh coconut trees were proposed to be subjected to spraying under the programme being implemented in association with the Coconut Development Board. Enough fertilisers to treat four crore coconut trees would be made available as part of the programme. The spraying operations will be completed before December 15 and the distribution of fertilizers by the end of December, the spokesman added.
