Events Trade fair to begin tomorrow Our Bureau
New Delhi , Nov. 12 THE stage is set for launching the India International Trade Fair (IITF) here on Sunday, the twenty-fourth in an annual series, showcasing the milestones the industry has traversed in its growth and modernisation trajectory in diverse areas, besides providing an authentic platform for trade exchanges, technology transfers and exploration of joint ventures between domestic and foreign firms. Disclosing this to newspersons here, the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Mr N. N. Khanna, said President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will flag off the 14-day fair which would see China taking part in a big way as "partner country" and Brazil as "focus country." Other overseas participants include Malaysia, Turkey, Tunisia, Indonesia, Thailand, UAE, Oman, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Pakistan, Sri Lanka.With its twin themes of `Agriculture' and `Information Technology,' IITF 2004 would highlight the impact of the information technology revolution on the economy and the contribution of agriculture to the economy in terms of its overall production, exports and livelihood concerns for millions of people eking out their existence in farming, he added. IITF would display a wide range of products and services including engineering, software and hardware, automobiles, electronics, leather, textiles, jute, rubber, handicrafts, jewellery, consumer goods and other items.
