Kelkar to head CII task force on healthcare

THE Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has set up a taskforce on health headed by former Advisor to the Finance Ministry, Dr Vijay Kelkar, which will endeavour to achieve accessible, quality and affordable healthcare for all.

Speaking to newspersons, Dr Naresh Trehan, Chairman, CII National Committee on Healthcare, said currently there are two taskforces - one to look the issue of accreditation of hospitals and the other is on population and health. "The Kelkar group will look into both these issues," Dr Trehan said.

Meanwhile, a two-day India Health Summit to be held next week will take up various issues related to the sector. Mr Harpal Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of Fortis Healthcare Ltd and the Conference Chairman, said the summit would showcase the achievements of the private healthcare sector in India over the past three-five years, discuss how the Indian healthcare sector could provide solutions for global health issues and provide a platform to Indian and foreign healthcare providers to interact.
