Human Resources Infosys to hire 2,000 more Our Bureau
New Delhi , Nov. 9 INFOSYS Technologies Ltd on Tuesday said it planned to add about 2,000 professionals by March 2005. "We currently have about 32,000 people globally. We only look at what we are going to do in this financial year and we have said we will look at about 2,000 people to be added between now and March 2005 globally," Mr S. Gopalakrishnan, Chief Operating Officer of Infosys Technologies Ltd, said on the sidelines of a CII conference here. On the company's expansion plans for the current financial year, he said Infosys was in the process of constructing a facility in Chandigarh. "Our Mohali centre is on leased space today. We have got land in Chandigarh; so we are constructing it and we are planning to move into that. Typically when we construct a new facility, we start with may be about 1,500 or 2,000 people," he said adding that Chandigarh centre was expected to be operational in the next 6 months. Mr Gopalakrishnan further said that Infosys' strategy was to look at acquisition as a way to enter new services space, new vertical market, or help in geographies such as Europe where language and culture were an issue. "We can talk about it (acquisitions) only when it happens," Mr Gopalakrishnan added.
