TCS planning second centre in Hyderabad

V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad , Nov.8

TATA Consultancy Services (TCS) is mulling another centre in Hyderabad to meet its growing demands.

In just about a year, the company has doubled its headcount, and is close to full occupancy at its largest single centre facility, Deccanpark.

The Regional Head of TCS, Mr Rajesh Nambiar, told Business Line "The company operations have grown rapidly and significantly during the last year. At Deccanpark, we may soon find that we have outgrown that facility. We would then have to look for additional growth prospects. This could be either through leased premises (plenty of it is available— Rahejas, Cyber Pearl etc.) or through yet another development centre owned by the company. We are at early stages of discussions on the nature of expansion, but would shortly freeze the plans."

"From about 1,500 people in November last, we have added over 1,400. We would soon cross the capacity of the building. The commissioning of Deccanpark on November 8 last year has added to the comfort of the employees. This is also one of the reasons for the lowest attrition rates in TCS," Mr Nambiar explained.

"Recruitment continues to be a challenge in terms of finding the right talent. Normally, TCS does not advertise for jobs, most of the recruitment is either through campus intake and referrals," Mr Nambiar said to emphasise there is good talent out there and recruitment is an ongoing process.
