Airlines Blue Dart acquires fifth Boeing 737 Our Bureau
The aircraft has been acquired for operations by its 100 per cent subsidiary, Blue Dart Aviation, the country's only cargo airline. The aircraft, which will be positioned at Delhi from where it is scheduled to operate, will boost Blue Dart's cargo fleet of four Boeing 737 freighters. According to an official statement, the addition of the new aircraft will also strengthen Blue Dart's charter capabilities within the country and between India and the SAARC region. Blue Dart has obtained necessary permissions from the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for the new aircraft. The statement, quoting the Managing Director, Mr Clyde Cooper, said: "The induction of the fifth aircraft would bolster the distribution capabilities of the company and also give us the opportunity to operate more charter services within the country, as well as to neighbouring countries such as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The new aircraft will help us meet the increasing demands on capacity and complement our ground and air network."
