Economy I&B Ministry to showcase progress of CMP Our Bureau
New Delhi , Nov. 3 THIS could be the case of common maximum publicity to the Common Minimum Programme (CMP). The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) wants to showcase its developmental work and the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry has decided that all the media units including AIR, DD and Photo Division would coordinate and pool their resources to inform people about progress of the CMP by the Government. At a meeting chaired by the I&B Secretary, Mr Navin B. Chawla, it was decided that all central Ministries dealing with issues identified under CMP would be asked to indicate their priorities and thrust areas. This would facilitate evolving a multimedia strategy aimed at placing the achievements of the Government in proper prospective. The I&B Ministry would use the multimedia approach to highlight their achievements in the priority areas under the CMP. While the content would be provided by the Ministries concerned, the delivery mechanism would be arranged by I&B Ministry. "It was also decided that the Ministries concerned would be requested to indicate a nodal officer/contact persons in their Ministries for coordination purpose," said sources. The meeting also decided that a separate report on the implementation of the CMP would be sent to the Cabinet Secretary and the Principal Secretary to the PM. It was further felt that DD would produce a 4.5-minute programme based on the progress reported by implementing Ministries on the thrust areas of CMP. They would focus on one theme for every week. The respective Ministries would indicate the focus areas and provide inputs and the programmes would be produced in-house by DD. Meanwhile, there would be special focus on the development of the North-East and Jammu and Kashmir region of the country.
