Reliance Info eyes 1m subscriber base in AP

Hyderabad , Oct. 31

RELIANCE Infocomm Ltd, the private integrated telecom services provider, has embarked on a major expansion drive that would see it quadrupling its reach across the State and touching the one million subscriber base by the end of this year.

The Chief Executive Officer of Reliance Infocomm Ltd, Mr R. Balachandran, told Business Line that the company, operating currently in 104 towns, would see rapid expansion that would mean quadrupling its reach across the State.

This means it would reach out to four times the number of these towns by the end of this year and the customer base would go up from 750,000 as on the end of September 2004 to over one million by the year end, in the process tapping newer markets and hitherto untreaded sections. The growth in towns in the State is along the lines of the company, which plans to expand from 1,100 towns now to over 5,000 by December. The subscriber base of the company has crossed 10 million recently.

"We are in the process of lining up a series of initiatives that includes a broadband push targeting the enterprise segment, offering virtual private network solutions," he explained.
