Tata Tea net rises

TATA Tea Ltd (TTL) today reported a profit after tax of Rs 53.20 crore for the quarter ended September 30 against Rs 34.96 crore during the corresponding previous period.
Income from operations stood at Rs 234.91 crore (Rs 201.68 crore). "Tata Tea's packet tea performance was way ahead of any industry norm,'' said Mr P. Siganporia, Managing Director.
For the half-year, TTL's profit after tax was Rs 75.65 crore (Rs 57.29 crore) on income from operations of Rs 440.66 crore (Rs 382.90 crore).
"The company's branded tea portfolio continued to witness a healthy growth during the quarter which, together with higher realisations from own garden teas in the auctions, contributed to increased income from operations by 16 per cent,'' an official statement said.
Including Tetley's operations, TTL's consolidated profit after tax for the quarter stood at Rs 73.38 crore on income from operations of Rs 756.07 crore (Rs 701.01 crore).
For the half-year, profit after tax amounted to Rs 129.41 crore (Rs 110.18 crore) on income from operations of Rs 1,463.06 crore (Rs 1,380.40 crore).
