PACIFIC Healthcare Holdings, a Singapore-based healthcare service provider, has formed a joint venture with Vitae Healthcare to take up a Rs 30-crore healthcare and research project in Hyderabad.

The project consisted of three wings, medical centre, stem cell bank and biomedical research centre, and hospital, according to Dr William Chong, Executive Chairman of Pacific Healthcare.

Speaking to newspersons on Thursday, Dr Chong said that the hospital, expected to be ready next year, would specifically focus on women and children. The Rs 20-crore 150-bed hospital is coming up on a five-acre plot at Gachibowli on the city outskirts.

Dr Tony Tan, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, will inaugurate the Pacific Medical Centre at Jubilee Hills on Friday.

Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister, will lay the foundation stone for the research centre and hospital.

The 70:30 joint venture envisages setting apart five per cent of the total capacity to provide free services to the poor.

Dr Chong said that the company is in talks with some groups in other Indian cities to partially replicate the Singaporean model. "Replicating partially is to bring in variations to suit the local needs," he added.
