Rubber steady on thin arrivals

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , Oct. 27

AS the arrivals to the village markets were reported to be sparse, spot rubber rates closed steady on Wednesday in the absence of fresh selling from growers.

The covering groups appeared reluctant to enlarge their commitments since the major manufactures showed hesitance to give revised quotes. Moderate purchases from the general rubber goods and North Indian sectors continued to support the market while the exporters maintained their presence. RSS 4 was static at Rs 54.25 as on Wednesday.

The NMCE futures turned weak quoting the November delivery at Rs 55.20 against Rs 55.71 a kg. The December delivery was quoted at Rs 55.50 (55.96), January delivery at Rs 56.50 (56.92) and February delivery at Rs 57.50 (57.91) per kg for RSS 4.

The spot market rates per kg on Wednesday follow: RSS 4 Rs 54.25 (54.25); RSS 5 Rs 53.25 (53.25); ungraded Rs 50.25(50.25); ISNR 20 Rs 52.50 (52.50); latex 60 per cent Rs 41(41).
