ALLIANZ Cornhill Information Services has kicked-off a Rs 35-crore expansion programme at its development centre in Thiruvananthapuram. The company is a subsidiary of the UK-based Allianz Cornhill Insurance Plc.

Besides acquiring an additional 50,000 square feet of office space at Technopark, the company will also recruit more employees as part of this expansion programme, said Mr Andrew Torrance, Chief Executive, Allianz Cornhill Insurance Plc. It expects to have 400 employees in Thiruvananthapuram by the end of next year, he added.

A majority of these employees will work in the company's business process outsourcing unit, while the remaining will focus on the company's software development activities, said Mr Torrance.

By the end of 2005, approximately 350 people will work for the BPO unit, while around 50 people will be engaged in software development, he added.
