Cashewnuts from Panama

MANGALORE: The cashew industrialist, Mr Walter D'Souza, imported raw cashewnuts from the Central American country of Panama recently.

A press release by Mr D'Souza said here that this is for the first time raw cashewnuts are being imported from Panama.

Mr D'Souza, who is the national board member of the Cashew Export Promotion Council of India, has been assisting the Government of Panama in the transfer of knowhow for cashew cultivation.

The release said the Central American countries are the latest on the map of cashew-growing countries. The first import would be followed by larger consignments in future.
