3 directors elected to Visakha Dairy

Our Bureau

Visakhapatnam, Sept. 29

THREE leaders belonging to Telugu Desam were elected directors to the Visakha Co-operative Dairy here on Wednesday in a controversial election amidst tight security, as the ruling Congress and Telugu Desam were locked in a fierce contest.

The election had been postponed earlier this month due to violent incidents. Mr Katmayya, Mr M. Naidu and Mr Gangaraju were elected the new directors.

Mr A. Tulasi Rao, the dairy Chairman, alleged that the ruling Congress Party and the Government were interfering in the dairy, acknowledged to be one of the best managed in the State and the country.

He said all attempts to erode the autonomy of the dairy would be fought by the farmers themselves. The victory of the Telugu Desam men clearly showed that the farmers were with the current management and they would not keep quiet if the Congressmen played foul.
