The Hindu Opportunities Fair from Oct 15

COMPANIES are looking at cutting costs of recruitment and retaining staff. Jobs fairs are becoming increasingly popular with both companies and job aspirants.

The Hindu Opportunities Fair is expected to draw over 30,000 job seekers and a large number of corporates from fields such as IT, ITES, BPO, insurance, manufacturing, engineering, logistics and services sector.

These companies will conduct interviews and offer jobs to interested candidates during the event.

Mr V. Kalidas, Chief Advertising Manager, The Hindu, said candidates should register online at www.hinduonnet.com and www.tmifirst.com.

The fair will be held at Mayor Ramanathan Chettiar Centre from October 15 to 17, and will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The event is targeted at fresh graduates, postgraduates, final year students and professionals with five years experience. The candidates will have to fill in their resume online along with two psychometric profiles.

Mr Kalidas said that the every participating company could access the candidate's bio-data online. Once the candidates fill in their resume and finish the online profiling, the programme will generate a user name and ID. Candidates should bring a print-out of this to the venue and register by paying Rs 50.

Candidates can visit any Reliance Web World outlet in Chennai for an hour of free net access for registration. They have to produce a cutting of the advertisement published in The Hindu.

There will also be `employability seminars' organised by The Hindu, which will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis. Candidates can book their seats in advance for the seminar.
