Coffee powder prices go up

Our Bureau

COIMBATORE: Coffee powder prices have been revised upwards yet again this year. A further revision cannot be ruled out, trade sources told Business Line.

The last upward revision was made in June. Within a matter of four months, the trade sources decided to hike the price by Rs 5 a kg to Rs 145. The situation is to be reviewed within the next 30 days and the possibility of announcing a further hike has not been ruled out.

Justifying the revision, Mr Subramaniam, a dealer in coffee, said that the tight supply condition and rising cost of power, packaging material (pouch) etc had compelled the trade to increase the price.

The trade also noted that the internal market price levels were higher than the export market rates.
