Financial Performance Kairali makes Rs 6-cr profit
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Malayalam Communications Ltd, which owns the Malayalam satellite channel Kairali TV, has earned an operating profit of Rs 6.04 crore in the last financial year. Announcing this at a press conference here, the company's Chairman and popular film star Mammootty said the company had revenues of Rs 19.43 crore in the 2003-04 financial year, while its expenses during the same period were Rs 13.39 crore. The company is looking at revenues of Rs 24 crore in the current financial year, said Mr John Brittas, Managing Director, Malayalam Communications Ltd. The company's strategy of creating separate programming slots for its viewers in different markets such as the US, Europe and West Asia has paid off in terms of better advertisement and subscription revenues, he added.
Kairali TV, which is in its fifth year of operations, is currently a free channel in India and West Asia, but is a pay channel in the US and Europe.
