Health tourism to be promoted in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Health Minister, Mr K.K. Ramachandran Master, has said that the State Government would strive to promote Kerala as an international destination for Ayurveda.

The Minister said this while receiving the project profile for an International Institute of Ayurvedic Medical Sciences, a joint initiative of the Directorate of Ayurvedic Medical Education and the Environment and Development Initiatives for Thiruvananthapuram (EDIT). Estimated to cost Rs150 crore, the institute will be equipped with a 500-bed hospital, R&D infrastructure for drug development and validation, research facilities and a gene bank for medicinal and aromatic plants. It will also feature an Ayurveda museum and library.
