Kerala Govt set up task force on Edusat

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government has set up a task force for eliciting recommendations on how best to make use of the just-launched Edusat, the Indian satellite with an `exclusively educational payload'.
The decision was taken at a meeting held here by the State Education Minister, Mr E.T. Muhammed Basheer, and the visiting team of scientists who worked behind Edusat.
The Principal Secretary, Higher Education, will head the task force, an official spokesman said here, announcing the details. Other members are Mr D. John, Deputy Director, SatCom Applications, Bangalore, Ms Minnie Mathew, Comptroller, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram, and Mr Jayashankar, Consultant, State Science and Technology Museum.
Among those who attended the meeting at the Minister's Chamber were Dr B.N. Suresh, Director, VSSC, and Dr K.R. Srivatsan, Director, Indian Institute for Information Technology-Kerala (IIITM-K).
