Awards & Honours Nalco plant bags environment award Our Bureau
BHUBANESWAR: The 960-MW captive power plant of National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco), located close to the company's aluminium smelter at Angul, bagged the coveted Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Puraskar for 2000, according to a press release issued by the company. The award was received by the Chairman and Managing Director, Mr G. Upadhyaya, from the Minister of State for Environment and Forests, Mr Namo Narain Meena, at a function in New Delhi on Thursday. The award was given to the plant for its measures for pollution control measures and environment protection. Nalco's power plant is the biggest captive unit in the country and its authorities take special care in the disposal of fly ash. All production units of Nalco have obtained the ISO 14001 certification, said the release.
