Announcements SRMB Udyog mulls replacement of construction bar range Our Bureau
Kolkata , Sept. 7 HAVING introduced the indigenously designed X-Rib pattern TMT (thermo mechanically treated) bars in the market, SRMB Udyog Ltd is now toying with the idea of replacing its existing production range of TMT bars with the X-Rib pattern TMT bars over a period of time. According to Mr Ashish Beriwala, Director, SRMB Udyog Ltd, the company has developed and launched the new-generation SRMB 500+ X-Rib pattern TMT construction bars that have been manufactured using a unique quenching and tempering technology. The new bars have X-Rib patterns on them, and this ensures greater bonding strength of the concrete and steel bars. The bars adhere to the Fe 500 grade of steel and have higher tensile strength and ductility. Addressing a news conference here today, Mr Beriwala said globally, the Fe 500 grade of steel was the most used grade in construction applications. The introduction of the product in India will benefit consumers as the savings in steel inputs in the SRMB 500+ X-Rib bars is found to be 17 per cent lower compared to the traditional TMT bars. This will translate into cost savings to the extent of nearly 14 per cent at today's prices in rupee terms.
