Sick Units `Revival package for BHPV to be announced soon' Our Bureau
Visakhapatnam , Sept. 3 THE United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government is committed to reviving the Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels Ltd (BHPV) and nurse it back to financial health, Mr N. Janardhana Reddy, former chief minister and the member of the Lok Sabha from Visakhapatnam, has said. In a press release issued here, he said he had apprised the Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, and the Minister for Heavy Industries, Mr Santhosh Dev, of the position of the unit and impressed upon them the need to revive it. A revival package was being worked out and it may be announced soon, he added. Mr Reddy said he had invited the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, to visit Visakhapatnam and urged him to initiate all necessary steps to spur industrial growth in the region. "The Prime Minister has graciously accepted the invitation," he said. Mr Reddy said that he had met the Railway Minister, Mr Lalu Prasad, and urged him to introduce a luxury passenger train between Visakhapatnam and the Araku Valley.
