Public Sector Banks Agri-Biz & Commodities - Credit Cards & Debit Cards BoI to issue 2 lakh kisan credit cards Our Bureau
Mumbai , Sept. 3 BANK of India (BoI) plans to issue more than two lakh Kisan Credit Cards 2004-04 to help achieve its aim of disbursing over Rs 3,300 crore towards agriculture credit in the current fiscal. The focus would be on small and marginal farmers. Of the total 5.91 lakh cards issued so far, 3.16 lakh cards, which is over 50 per cent, have been issued to small and marginal farmers and landless labours, according to a bank press release. With a view to providing credit access to tenant farmers, BoI is increasing its focus on forming self-help groups of small farmers. The bank recently launched a new product, Kisan Samadhan, which aims at taking care of a farmer's entire credit needs: short- and medium-term loans, consumption loan and personal loan.
