Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: In dryland areas, there is a need to adopt appropriate mechanisation programmes to ensure the best return for farmers. A winter school on dryland mechanisation, which was inaugurated on Wednesday by Dr Y.L. Nene, former Deputy Director General of Icrisat at the Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, will discuss ways of doing this.

A total of 26 participants from various institutes, agricultural universities in the country will take part in the three-week programme. Issues such as farm power deficit, mechanisation needs, socio-economic constraints, commodity based mechanisation and value addition of rain-fed crops will be discussed.
