Satyam opens Melbourne centre

SATYAM Computer Services on Wednesday announced the launch of its largest Global Development Centre outside of India in Melbourne, Australia, to support the company's Asia-Pacific operations, including Japan. It had opened its first Australian development centre in Sydney in November 2001.

The Chairman of Satyam, Mr B. Ramalinga Raju, in a statement, said, "The GDC forms an integral part of Satyam's Business Continuity Process model, which allows seamless support to our global clients."

The GDC was declared open by the Victoria Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Ms Marsha Thomson, and Mr Raju, in the presence of Mr. Prabhat P. Shukla, the High Commissioner of India to Australia.

Said Ms Thompson, "We believe there is considerable business opportunity in Australia for companies such as Satyam."
