Hallmarking scheme seeing traction

The BIS is also focussing on the gold hallmarking scheme through independent hallmarking labs recognised by the BIS and has so far got 780 jewellers selling under the BIS license.

The scheme has seen considerable traction in the West and South, according to BIS officials and the voluntary scheme is finding an increasing number of takers, they say. The standards organisation has 17 recognised centres operating under its licence across the country.
