Kalam to open development meet in Bangalore

BANGALORE: The President, Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, will open a national seminar in Gulbarga on `Vision 2020 of rural India.' The seminar is being held on September 23.
Mr Suresh G. Nandyal, President of the Hyderabad Karnataka Chamber of Commerce & Industry, which is organising the meet, said the chamber had drawn up an agenda for 18 Government departments and rural development agencies to carry on related activities in the backward northern Karnataka region for the whole year.
The seminar itself will focus on agriculture, small and medium enterprise (SME) development, employment, rural infrastructure, healthcare, childcare, gender issues, HR development, education and lifestyle. Six bimonthly sessions will be held in a year and the chamber will try to involve Central and State Ministers. The chamber has included participation from FICCI, FKCCI, GMCI, KASSIA, AWAKE, KSIIDC, Industries Department and Nabard.
