Education IIM-Kozhikode to take in more students Our Bureau
Kochi , Aug. 24 THE Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode plans to increase its student intake from the present 130 to 300 for the post-graduate programme. On the lines of the Student Exchange Programmes which send students to business schools abroad, the Institute also planned to start a Faculty Exchange Programme with other major International Management Schools, Mr Krishna Kumar, Director of IIM K said. Speaking at the Foundation Day of the fifth IIM, to be established in the country, Mr Krishna Kumar explained the mission and vision of the Institute and how important `social conscience' is to every manager and in every management career. While Mr Krishna Kumar presided over the function, Mr Subir Raha, Chairman of ONGC, was the Chief Guest for the event. Mr A.C. Muthiah, the former President of FICCI and Chairman of SPIC, who is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute was also present on the occasion. Mr Subir Raha talked about the growth and achievements of ONGC, the biggest and most profitable corporate in the country. He emphasised the importance of students offering their services to India after passing out from IIMK. He discussed the 10 biggest management issues faced by the country today and gave a simple approach by which each and everyone could make a difference to the nation. Some of the issues highlighted were unemployment, education, agriculture, corruption, energy, water and population. He said that the 10 macro issues can be divided into 1000 micro problems each one of which should be addressed by each of the brilliant minds passing out from prestigious institutions such as IIMK.
