Standards for hospitals

This is with reference to "Law soon to regulate clinical establishment" (Business Line, August 16).

It is heartening to know that the Health Ministry is planning to come up with a legislation which will certify and set standards for private hospitals and nursing homes/diagnostic centres across the country.

This is, indeed, a bold step by the Government and it has come at a time when the country is flooded with a large number of unscrupulous nursing homes and diagnostic centres, which reap huge profits.
