Co-operatives `Products of co-op bodies must be encouraged' Our Bureau
Mangalore , Aug. 15 THE Vice-President of the Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Co-operative (Campco) Ltd, Mr Krishna Bhat, has stressed the need for encouraging the products manufactured by co-operative organisations. Presiding over a function organised as part of the `School Campaign 2004' of Campco here on Sunday, Mr Bhat urged the countrymen to encourage the products of co-operative institutions rather than buying imported ones. He made a specific reference to chocolate products. Chocolate products of Campco are "swadeshi", Mr Bhat said, adding that both students and parents should encourage them. Referring to the recent controversies over the chocolate products of some multi-national companies, he said the quality of Campco products is tested at every stage of production. Under the `School Campaign 2004' programme, Campco selected 100 schools in Karnataka (50 in Bangalore, 20 in Mysore and 30 in Mangalore), where the students were given timetable cards and lucky dip coupons. Campco on Sunday organised a programme to pick the winners of of the lucky dip contest.
