THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government has accorded sanction for a spending programme worth Rs 60 lakh with respect to the three-day India International Boat Show being sponsored by the Department of Tourism and getting under way in Kochi on October 8.

The boat-show, being staged at the International Convention Centre at Kochi, has been organised to make the best possible use of the opportunities in the State in aqua tourism and water sports, an official spokesman said here.

The aim is also to make the Kochi boat-show the most talked about event in its genre in South Asia. Participation from countries in the Middle East, South East Asia and South Asia has been ensured. The boat-show will double up as a platform for trading in boats, boat accessories and water sports equipment.
