Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Government employees will receive their salary for the current month between August 20 and 23, and pensioners their pension on August 24, in view of the ensuing Onam festival.

Announcing this, the Finance Minister, Mr K. Sankaranarayanan, said bonus payouts to all eligible Government employees would be made at the same rate as the last year. Those ineligible will be paid a festival allowance of Rs 1,000 each instead. In addition, the employees will receive a festival advance of Rs 400 each. The pensioners will get a special festival allowance at the same rate as last year.

The State Government earlier announced that the payment of additional instalments of dearness allowance that had become due from time to time would not be delayed any longer. An additional 10 per cent dearness allowance will be paid along with the salary during the course of this financial year. Of this, three per cent will be paid with next month's salary and the remaining seven per cent, in two instalments in December this year and March 2005.
