NIIT to expand global presence

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Aug. 10

IT training company NIIT Ltd is considering expanding presence in Central and Eastern Europe and Latin America during the current financial year.

"We will be looking at some new countries this year. We are considering expanding in markets like Central and Eastern Europe, and Latin America either through centres based on franchisee models or by entering into alliance with universities," Mr P. Rajendran, Chief Operating Officer of NIIT Ltd, said.

He said while the company was yet to zero in on locations in Central and Eastern Europe for possible expansion, in Latin America, it could look at adding new centres in Mexico and establishing presence in Peru and Venezuela.

"The focus is not on adding too many centres but on the returns," he pointed out.

He said that the NIIT's capital expenditure in the education business for the next three years would be close to Rs 100 crore.

"In the next one year we will invest in expanding our knowledge solutions business, and also invest in our K-12 (Kinder garden to Class 12) business," Mr Rajendran said.

With regard to the revenue mix, he said while 50 per cent of the company's income came from international business, 30 per cent was from individual business in India and balance 20 per cent from institutional business in the country.
