THE Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) will organise a two-day national interactive meet (NIM-2004) from October 29 in Hyderabad to discuss the scope and opportunities in research and business of medicinal and aromatic plants.
The second edition of NIM would discuss issues such as potential and constraints in research and technology development; marketing of medicinal and aromatic plants, strategies for commercialisation and technology incubation, a CIMAP statement said.
CIMAP, the CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) institute located in Lucknow, held the first NIM in 2002.
"Participants wanted that the interactive session should be made a periodical event so as to discuss specific as well as policy related issues," it said.
Interactive sessions, which would involve experts and policy makers, would discuss new areas and leads for industrial exploitation, value addition, product development and quality control.
"Quality control and marketing are the major bottlenecks in medicinal and aromatic plants business. Strategies to practically convert these weaknesses into opportunities would be the major theme of NIM-2004," it said.
