New tourism, textile secretaries

IN a top level bureaucratic reshuffle, the Government on Thursday appointed Mr Wajahat Habibullah as Secretary in the Textiles Ministry and Mrs Uma Pillai as Tourism Secretary.

Mr Deepak Chatterji, Secretary, Department of Commerce, is currently holding the additional charge of the Secretary, Textiles Ministry.

An official announcement said that Mr V.K. Duggal, currently Secretary in the Water Resources Ministry, would hold additional charge of the Secretary, Department of Drinking Water Supply.

Mr Duggal, who is currently in Islamabad leading the Indian delegation at the two-day talks to resolve differences between India and Pakistan over the Tulbul Navigation project, replaces Mr Palat Mohandas who has been posted as Secretary, Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) in place of Mr Shekhar Dutt.

Mrs Uma Pillai, Secretary, Department of Defence Production and Supplies, replaces Mrs Rathi Vinay Jha as the Tourism Secretary, who retires on July 31.

Mr Shekhar Dutt replaces Mrs Uma Pillai as Secretary, Department of Defence Production and Supplies.
