Bill to double APWRDC borrowing limits

THE Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Thursday adopted a Bill that enhances the borrowing limits of AP Water Resources Development Corporation (APWRDC) from the existing Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 2,000 crore.

Piloting the Bill in the House, the Minister for Major Irrigation, Mr Ponnala Laxmaiah, said that APWRDC was empowered to borrow money from financial institutions and Non-Resident Indians or from the open market by issue of bonds, debentures and stocks for an amount not exceeding Rs 1,000 crore for the execution of drinking water and industrial water supply schemes and to harness the water of rivers in the State.
