Keltrac sets up tech training centre at Aroor

KELTRON Tool Room Research and Training Centre (Keltrac), an autonomous society sponsored by Keltron and the Industries Department, has set up a facility at Aroor in Alappuzha district to provide technical training.

The objective of the Centre, set up an investment of Rs 15 crore, is to provide sophisticated tooling and machine facilities to the small-scale industries and to develop human resource in this domain, said Mr V. Ram Kumar, Managing Director, Keltron, at a news conference. Of the investment, a major portion would be made by the Union and State Governments, he added.

Besides taking up research and training activities, the centre would act as a nodal centre for technical information on product R&D works and develop tools and dies for the industry.

The full-ledged tool room will be operational by November with the installation of imported machines, Mr Kumar said.

Mr Kumar, who is also the Vice-Chairman of the Managing Committee of Keltrac, said that the Centre has tied up with Government Tool Room and Training Centre, Bangalore and ISRO for curriculum support.

Keltrac Institute drawn up a host of technical courses such as a four-year professional diploma programme in tool and die making, complete numeric computer programming, Pro E, and CAD/CAM with rapid photo typing.
