New Delhi , July 24

GUJARAT Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company Ltd has posted a net sales of Rs 265.59 crore for the quarter ended June 2004, registering a fall of around 12 per cent compared to Rs 300.69 crore during the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

This drop is mainly due to lower product availability on account of a long 26-day plant shutdown as against eight days during the comparable quarter last year, according to a company release. The company's profit before tax stood at Rs 36.85 crore, down 17 per cent compared to Rs 44.46 crore. Profit after tax stood at Rs 22.87 crore (Rs 26.46 crore).
