New Projects Baidyanath plans modern ayurved unit in Bangalore Our Bureau
Hyderabad , July 24 WITH the acceptability levels for ayurvedic products on the rise in the South Indian markets, the Rs 150-crore ayurved products major Baidyanath Ayurved Bhavan is planning to set up a modern manufacturing facility in Bangalore. Baidyanath currently has all its manufacturing facilities located in the northern region of the country at Kolkata, Patna, Jhansi, Nagpur, Allahabad, Seoni and Baddi. The Seoni unit had recently bagged the ISO-9002 certification. Sharing the plans of the company while launching the new product `Baidyanath Vita-Ex-Gold-Plus' here on Saturday, the Chief Executive, Dr B.K. Shrikhande, however, said the company is still reviewing the potential for setting up of the manufacturing unit in the South. Stating that it would cost at least Rs 10 crore to set up the facility, he said the company would complete the review exercise and finalise its plans. While retaining its focus on classical preparations, Baidyanath plans increased thrust on validation of ayurvedic product and processes, especially the important category of Ras-Rasayan that is unique, potent and has therapeutic benefits comparable with synthetic drugs, Dr Shrikhande said. The ayurvedic major is also planning to take up contract farming in a big way in several States. As a part of this, the company has already initiated contract farming near Jhansi and Nagpur in nearly 400 acres.
