EmmayHR sets sights on staffing business

Our Bureau

Pune , July 13

HUMAN resources company EmmayHR has announced its foray into the staffing business with a view to strengthen its competitive position in the industry and has said it will grow this business to 2,500 associates in the next one year.

The CEO of EmmayHR, Ms Monisha Advani, told reporters here the move to foray into the staffing business was in keeping with the demand in the market where companies were increasingly heading towards focusing on their main areas of expertise and outsourcing non-critical functions.

"The move is a forward integration that will help us provide a holistic HR consulting approach to clients. This will help us create and sustain a support mechanism for our clients and help them focus on core areas and increase productivity."

EmmayHR, which is one of the pioneers in the BPO sector, where it started off by placing 3,000 people for former British Airways subsidiary WNS, now plans to tap the IT and ITES, FMCG, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors for their staffing requirements through its new initiative.

"Globally the staffing business is booming and the Indian corporate scenario is now headed that way too,'' Mr Rohit Ramani, Associate Director, said. The company is also planning to provide staffing solutions in sales and marketing, finance, administration, technical and customer support divisions of existing and potential clients to grow the new business, he said.

"Organisations are devoting more and more time in managing and reducing fixed costs and complexities of administering non-core areas and staffing will help them eliminate human resource related overhead costs, time and complexities involved,'' Mr Ramani said.

Meanwhile, Ms Advani who was talking to the press on the occasion of the company's five years in Pune city where it has placed 3,000 people in the last few years, said the company's existing talent pool, a database of over a lakh and strategic alliances with Monster, JobsAhead and Naukri will allow the company to provide tailored solutions according to clients' requirements.

"Companies which would want to use the staffing route are either small and medium enterprises which do not have an HR department or very large companies that intend to outsource all their routine HR process to focus on the task at hand,'' Mr Sanjay Shetty, Director, said.

"Corporates in the old economy mould and the new-age ones have realised that headcount is directly related to their revenue and they require experts who can deliver customised solutions when required. The staffing business in the country will eventually touch the 10 million jobs level with most of the growth fuelled by domestic corporations,'' Ms Madhu Bhojwani, Chief Operating Officer, said.
