E-Governance Money & Banking - Events Smart card tech expo in Delhi from July 15 Our Bureau
New Delhi , July 12 IN a bid to focus on new applications of smart cards in the context of security and promotion of e-governance, the 4th Smart Card Tech India 2004 international conference would be held in Delhi on July 15. "The Smart Card Tech India would focus on government-to-citizen interface in the backdrop of the national e-governance action plan for 2003-07," a statement by Exhibitions India, which has organised the event, said. The conference would also discuss issues emerging from the pilot project of the multipurpose national ID cards implemented by Government for about 2.85 million people in 24 districts of 13 border and coastal States of the country to reduce infiltration and strengthen the internal security. It would also discuss a range of issues including critical ID initiatives facing the Government for increasing homeland security, the role of advanced smart card technologies, biometrics and IT vendor communities. The event is expected to provide a platform for understanding the investment opportunities, growth areas and collaboration networks amongst the key stakeholders and partners. The focus is on areas of interoperability, infrastructure, privacy, security and costs.
